Founded as the German-Bohemian Bank in 1916, the name was changed to Liberty National Bank in 1918, when World War I anti-German sentiment was strong in this immigrant community. In 1923, the bank dedicated this new building constructed of locally produced dark brown brick with sandstone trim. A portico with granite Tuscan columns accents the three-bay principal facade. The heavy pressed-metal projecting cornice and parapet affirm the building’s solidity.
