Quonset huts are among the most common building types at Mercury. This type of prefabricated, portable structure, developed for the U.S. military in 1941, was used extensively after the war because of its practicality and versatility. On the test site Quonsets provided storage space for autos and equipment and were also used for recreational purposes. This Quonset, which housed Mercury's theater, has no windows, only doors at the arched ends.
