Superintendent's House

The Brady's Bend Iron Works built numerous tracts of worker housing, most of which have been demolished or absorbed by suburban development. The iron works also built several more extravagant homes, of which this large two-and-one-half-story superintendent's house is one of the few remaining examples. The highlight of the building is the front entrance with its Italianate portico, impressively displayed at the top of a flight of stairs. Narrow horizontal wood siding, bay windows on the side elevations, heavy window surrounds, and corner quoins distinguish the house. Three successive superintendents' families lived in this house before the company closed in 1873.
