This painted brick complex on a hillside overlooking the borough is noteworthy for its size and age. County homes for the poor that still exist on their original site and with architectural integrity, as here, are rare. The long two-story wings flank a central farmhouse that was built earlier for G. V. Curll. The wings have round-arched windows on the second story and intersecting gable roofs. The county home was part of a self-supporting farm worked by the residents in the early twentieth century, and many outbuildings remain. It is privately owned and being restored for use as a community center.
