Zion's Reformed Church

Built for the German Reformed congregation, later the United Church of Christ, this fanciful red brick, Gothic Revival church was designed by New Castle architect Sidney Foulk with steep gables and pointed-arched windows. None of Foulk's buildings are typical, however. Here he shows his inventiveness in the square tower at the church's corner, giving it circular windows at its third stage and encasing the bells in a square wooden section with horseshoe-shaped openings; the tower finishes with a steeple. An unusual window treatment on the facade has a trio of lancets converging into a circular window beneath a Gothic arch.
