Magoffin Inn (Dr. Montrose B. Magoffin House)
This large, brick house is now a bed-and-breakfast. Designed by the courthouse architects, it demonstrates the range of the firm's work in Mercer County, from the courthouse ( ME1), to the Richardsonian Romanesque Buhl mansion in Sharon ( ME9), to the Queen Anne style, as here. With its large wraparound porch, projecting gabled bays, and corbeled chimneys, the inn is typical of the style.
