This striking brick house illustrates New York's cultural influence in this part of Pennsylvania. Similar Greek Revival houses composed of cubical central blocks flanked by wings were popular in upstate New York. Greek Revival elements include the Ionic entrance porch, attic frieze windows with iron grilles, and Ionic porches on the identical recessed wings. The central core consists only of the entrance stair hall and two large rooms. English-born landholder George Wansey sold the house to attorney E. W. Baird in 1850.
