The five-story red brick building above the west bank of the Lehigh River was designed by a Philadelphia firm that specialized in breweries. The building is an eclectic pile, crowned by an octagonal cupola. Odd juxtapositions abound. A hipped-roof pavilion is adjacent to a temple form rendered in brick, while fine Sullivanesque details adorn the lower floor. A 1934 bottling house extends the building north along Front Street and its elaborate decorative frieze adds to the ornamental program. The brewery went bankrupt in 1967 and the following year the building was abandoned; it is still vacant.
