Hill School

Pottstown's most notable assemblage of buildings is the campus of Hill School, founded in 1851. Historic photographs show buildings with massive industrial chimneys that may have been the work of Frank Furness (demolished). Early-twentieth-century buildings are by the Hewitt brothers, with later buildings by the architects of many schools and colleges of the region, including Hewitt and Ash, and Charles Z. Klauder, who designed the Harry Elkins Widener Gymnasium and the Science Building in 1931 using Day and Klauder's by then familiar Art Deco–adapted Gothic with narrow vertical window groupings and tall slate roofs.
