Adjacent to the library, the gymnasium was modeled on Harvard's Hemenway Gymnasium. In contrast to the heaviness of both Edward Potter's Packer Hall and Hutton's Linderman Library, the gymnasium affected a comfortable domestic scale in a pleasant jumble of Queen Anne form and detail. The interior has been completely redone and bears no traces of the original uses and now houses the School of Journalism.
