One of the early houses for the initial Houston development but larger than the contemporary houses on nearby Highland Avenue, it has been updated with a California “painted lady” look that ties it to the modern world. With their great porches, this house and the even more decorated Sauveur house at W. Hartwell Lane and Seminole Avenue attest to suburban pleasures before the age of air-conditioning.
