100 Block of Cuthbert Street

-A A +A
After 1759, Jacob Cooper and Henry Harrison, carpenters

Similar to Elfreth's Alley (PH2) but with a less well-known court of houses is a block to the south across from Christ Church (PH4). The tiny two-and-one-half-story houses (numbers 112–118 and 124) with Flemish bond brickwork and pent eaves over the doors are midto late eighteenth century. The fireplace and paneling of number 116 are now installed in the Henry Francis du Pont Museum at Winterthur, Delaware. Most of the houses of the old city were replaced with commercial buildings at the larger scale and rhythms of the beginning Industrial Revolution.
