One of Mahantongo Street's grandest twentieth-century houses was built not for a coal baron but for a brewer. Designed by a Reading architect, the Tudor Revival house was home to three generations of the Yuengling family before passing into institutional use. Delicate Adamesque music and dining rooms provide dramatic contrast to an otherwise heavy Jacobethan interior. The carriage house with its varnished oak doors is part of the ensemble.
