
Also off Route 2 is the easiest access to the large Kenyon Mill complex; see RI2 for a detailed description), whose village is most notable for the way it is tucked against the enormous hulk of the mill and its machinery, literally squeezed up to the river itself—a fitting metaphor for the way the mills shadowed every aspect of the daily life of their workers in earlier days. It is one of the few large mills in the state which still serves the textile industry.
