Greenwich Hotel (Updike Hotel)

A series of hotels occupied this site as far back as the 1740s. The Greenwich Hotel, with its two-story Ionic-columned porch, was a late nineteenth-century classical revival effort to provide a grand focus for the commercial district, today frustrated by nondescript shop fronts.
