The lighthouse, off on a rock in the water, is a familiar Victorian type, with the lightkeeper's granite house topped by a boxy mansard, on one end of which the squat light sits like the pilothouse of a ferry. More elegantly than most such stunted towers, this rises in a tapering curve to an elegant metal enclosure for the light.
