Facing Federal duplex houses at 20–22 and 25–27 John Street back up on yet a third identical duplex on the next street south, 26–28 Arnold Street. This is an early development linked by an alley, Neighbors Lane, for access to the yards. The main house blocks are hip-roofed with a monitor (except that the Arnold Street example is gabled with a trap door dormer); small service wings with their own hips project at right angles off the rear corners, giving each duplex a U-shaped configuration with a utility court between.
