J. H. Hoar House

-A A +A
1841. Early 20th century, rear bungalow additions. 50 Washington St.
  • J. H. Hoar House (John M. Miller)

This tiny one-and-one-half-story Greek Revival house has a full Doric portico in front and an arched second-story bedroom window in the pediment. The monumental in such a miniaturized format cannot help but be captivating—like the tiny temples in eighteenth- and nineteenth-century English gardens.
