Lying in the town of Richwood Village, one of the thirteen communities in the Freeport–Lake Jackson area comprising Brazosport and its shared public school district, is the regional community college, Brazosport College. It is the most distinguished work of modern architecture in the neighborhood.

Brazosport College is set in a 156-acre park in an oxbow bend of Oyster Creek. Rather than spreading buildings and parking lots across the site, the architects collected all program requirements in a single building, set well back from College Drive behind a broad meadow containing a grove of mature pecan trees. Conceived as a megastructure, the two and three-story building consists of a central north–south spine from which wings project on the east and west, framing courtyards between them. The cast-in-place concrete structural frame is exposed; partitions of textured concrete block and aluminum-and-glass curtain wall are inserted within the frame to preserve its architectural primacy.
