Houston landscape architect Herbert Skogland laid out the curved-street subdivision of Harbor View in 1954 on land reclaimed from the East End tidal flats. During the 1950s and 1960s, it became a popular in-town neighborhood because of its proximity to the medical center. This flat-roofed modern house, the work of Price, Galveston's foremost modern architect of the 1950s and 1960s, demonstrates the high standard of design available to Galveston clients who sought architect-designed houses in the second half of the twentieth century. The house is notable for the trim proportions of its curtain-walled street front and the jaunty canopy above the front entrance. Harbor View was inundated by the storm surge of Hurricane Ike in 2008.
