This is the third building at the ranch to serve the first Protestant congregation in Hidalgo County, which included an enclave of freed slaves. Still maintained as a chapel by the descendants of Martin Jackson, who donated the land in 1884, the 20 × 35–foot, front-gabled, board-and-batten Methodist chapel sits next to the Jackson family cemetery.
