The first formal post office in town, this three-bay structure was designed by Giles, a case where a local architect created the design, whereas most post offices were products of the Supervising Architect of the U.S. Treasury. Built of brick and limestone, the little building features brick pilasters that divided the brick facade into bays, with limestone used for the trim, including the base course, sills for the windows, the lintels over the door and windows, and the cornice.
