Much of Ayres's early career focused on house designs, so this imposing commercial building is an exception. Originally five-stories tall, the Moore Building was given a sixth story five years after its completion to accommodate additional tenants. The building's buff-colored terra-cotta skin includes a series of round arches that unite the lower four floors, and double cornices created by the increase in the structure's height.
