Sited on one of the largest lots in the neighborhood, the two-story Chabot House makes conspicuous use of frame porches set against its limestone walls. The detailing of the porches is elaborate and the facade differs from the south side of the house, where the porch balusters change from turned pieces to flat, jigsawn pieces. George Chabot operated his mercantile business on Main Plaza, where he dealt in cotton, wool, and hides.
