This red brick and cut-stone church, Gothic Revival with Romanesque details, commands the town with its pinnacled wooden steeple. The facade features a central tower flanked by arcaded porches framed by round arches. The most prominent exterior decorative element is the use of contrasting buff and gray brick to form geometric patterns. A semicircular apse steps back from the basilican-planned interior, which is noteworthy for its decorative painting, executed in 1954 by artist Edmond Fatjo, who decorated churches in Texas from 1925 until 1964. Fatjo's work is centered above the altar and in the choir loft. Such painted interiors continue the Bohemian traditions found in several churches in neighboring Fayette County ( PF36, PF37, PF44, PF45).
