The house sits high on the block commanding the eastern entrance to Rio Grande City. Built by the sister of Silverio de la Peña and her husband, Leopoldo, the two-story residence includes second-floor raised brick pilasters from which spring a diagonal brick frieze in support of a floating brick cornice with a sharply angled central pediment. While its architraved second-floor casement windows are considered to be a link to Portscheller, the unbalanced composition of its main elevation is not indicative of the master mason.
