One of the few remaining houses in this once residential area of Wichita Falls, this two-story frame residence has simple rectangular massing that is given interest by wraparound porches with extensive spindle and jigsaw work of an Eastlake character. A small decorative porch on the second floor is placed over the entrance. Builders W. Lee Moore and James A. Richolt constructed the house for Judge Samuel H. Hodges, a lawyer and real estate investor. The house later was in the Hardy family for over seventy years, accounting for its excellent condition, including many original interior fixtures and finishes.
A block away at 1104 Austin Avenue, the two-story buff brick house (1914) for merchant Albert Zundelowitz has a foursquare plan with a low-pitched roof and broad eaves.
