Dallas’s skyline from the south and west freeway approaches has long been dominated by the shimmering, blue-green glass of the Hyatt and the glowing globe atop the fifty-story Reunion Tower. The hotel’s more than 1,100 rooms, eateries, and convention spaces are arrayed around an expansive central atrium, a luxury hotel model popularized by Atlanta architect/developer John Portman’s atrium hotels of the 1960s and 1970s. A tunnel under the railroad tracks connects to Union Station, where the grand hall is a special events venue.
