Gill designed the bank twelve years after working on the house (KR9) of one of the bank’s stockholders, Matthew Cartwright. The building, set back from the property line along Moore Avenue, is on a raised basement and has a classical portico of four Ionic columns that give it a strong presence despite its small size. The architect’s grandson, Ben L. Gill Jr., was president of the bank from 1943 to 1967.
