The Calera farming community south of Toyahvale built this simple adobe chapel as a mission served by the parish in Fort Davis, thirty-five miles south. The front-gabled chapel has a bell-cote above the door, which is protected by a small shed canopy. The chapel, all that remains of the community, was used until the early 1940s. The Calera Foundation was formed in 2002 and the chapel restored in 2003. During restoration, volunteer workers discovered that the lower two-thirds of the walls were constructed of rubble stone set in mud mortar, with the upper one-third built of adobe. The chapel is open for visitors, weddings, and prayers.
