At twenty stories, the former First State Bank is the tallest building in Abilene. Alternating horizontal bands of tawny brick and gray glass are layered into a relentless image, typical of 1980s office buildings, and barely eased by the solidly walled west end, which terminates and anchors the bands. On the north side, a stepped five-story atrium is lit by clerestories.
