The most spectacular facade in Stamford, and indeed in the region, is the Spanish Plateresque headquarters of the former Bryant-Link retail chain. The farm implement and dry goods business, established in Anson in 1884, built a one-story store in 1900, remodeling it in 1928 with this highly ornate facade of cream-colored cast-stone panels manufactured in San Antonio. The facade may have been designed by San Antonio architect Robert B. Kelly, the partner of H. C. Wood in the Kelwood Company, a design-build company using a variety of Spanish modes in the 1920s. West Texas Utilities purchased and refurbished the building in 1973, with other tenants in recent years.
