Cut off from downtown by the tracks of the Texas and Pacific Railway, the church for Big Spring’s first Catholic parish served a north-side neighborhood of working-class newcomers. The rectangular Gothic Revival church in rock-faced limestone, with prominent quoins, has a projecting square entrance tower, crenellated at its summit. Located near the crest of a rise in Bauer’s Government Heights Addition, the church possesses a striking profile as its tower looks south toward Big Spring’s downtown skyline.
