Architect Simons’s own house looks like a picturesque Georgian village strung out over terraced lawns. Composed of a number of small structures, rather than a large dominant central block with wings of a typical Georgian country house, the Z-plan house has gabled and cross-gabled roofs and tall chimneys above red brick walls. Simons’ favorite features abound, including small round windows, shallow bay windows with roof hoods, and windows that extend up through roof eaves.
