Patrick Murray House

-A A +A
c. 1775, 517 Prince St.
  • Patrick Murray House (Virginia Division of Historic Resources)

This small house typifies the alternative to the flounder house. It is perhaps the least altered of pre-Revolutionary Alexandria houses. The high exposed basement of Potomac River granite was originally below grade, but a regrading of the street and most of Old Town in 1790 lowered the elevation.
