The Charles Dick House originally stood on the western edge of town and faced open land, siting still reflected in its large front yard. The Mount Vernon–style portico was added by owner John W. Masters after he purchased the house in 1910. It may be a very early imitation of Washington's home dating from the early nineteenth century. Following a 2018 renovation by Van Zandt Restorations with Richmond architect Charles Aquino, the interior has been completely altered but the facade remains largely intact.
