Cramped for space on the old and new campuses, the college, in the mid-1970s, established what might be called a satellite campus about half a mile distant and transferred some functions there. The colonial idiom still reigns at the William and Mary Law School (1978–1979, Wright, Jones and Wilkerson). The Lettie Pate Whitehead Evans Graduate Student Housing (1990–1992, Hanbury Evans Newill Vlattas) is a courtyard of stylized interpretations of seventeenth-century English urban houses, and very appealing. The McCormack-Nagelson Tennis Center (1995, Worley Associates) is a hulking mass.
