Sheild House (Sessions-Sheild)

Two stories of brick with a jerkinhead roof, the Sheild House has been considerably rebuilt over time. The fine Flemish bond brickwork with glazed headers is fronted by a Doric portico added c. 1830. In 1935, while surveying Yorktown for the National Park Service, Charles Peterson described the house in what is probably the first historic structures report.
