Arlington National Cemetery Buildings

-A A +A
1996, KressCox Associates (Maintenance Facility); Kerns Group (Marine Corps Multipurpose Building and Navy Mutual Aid Society). Southern edge of Arlington Cemetery, Fort Myer, off Columbia Pk.

This group of largely utilitarian structures is united by the use of fieldstone walls, brick, and repeated elemental forms, such as low pyramidal shapes. The strategy of breaking up the mass of the buildings helps to minimize their visual intrusion. The result is above the level of most current armed forces design.
