Westover Parish is very old, dating back to 1625. The church follows a form favored for smaller ecclesiastical buildings, a rectangle measuring about 62 feet by 30 feet. The jerkinhead roof form is original, though restored in 1969. Flemish bond is used above the beveled water table and English below. Rubbed brick with a yellowish cast delineates the four corners of the structure, as well as most of the window jambs (several of which have been rebuilt). The west doorway was renewed in 1956. The building was abandoned after 1805 for more than thirty years because of disestablishment and then returned to service only to be looted by Union troops; thus nothing of the colonial interior remains except the roof trusses. The church owns some early silver, and in the yard are the remains of early gravestones.
