After Main crosses 5th Street, the tight urbanity of the financial district vanishes and surface parking lots dominate, along with a suburban feeling. The headquarters for the Red Cross is set back from the sidewalk behind a patch of grass and shrubs. The two-story structure, clad in red brick with limestone trim, is a good example of the parched neoclassical–Colonial Revival style of the 1950s. The two-story entrance portico leads to a circular entrance hall.
