Parking Facility

Built jointly by St. James Episcopal Church and Congregation Beth Ahabah, this parking facility demonstrates that the constant challenge of parking in urban areas can be overcome in a sensitive manner. The basis for the design of the shared parking deck was a conventional early 1900s town house on the corner of Ryland and West Franklin streets, which was gutted, leaving the side and front facades. The cornices, columns, and brickwork of the original building are echoed in the walls that conceal the massive concrete members of the multilevel parking deck while neatly fitting in with the streetscape.
