By entering Windsor Farms almost at the western end of Coventry Road, visitors can see some of the earliest houses, including three designed in an English vernacular by an architect who designed many of the pre-1930 speculative houses in Windsor Farms. He subsequently moved to Washington, D.C., and had a long and successful career in that city. For these houses Cappelmann adopts the English Arts and Crafts idiom of high-pitched, spreading slate roofs covering a plain brick facade with windows arranged in banks.
