One of the best surviving examples of an Italianate business block in Shockoe Bottom, this three-story, multibay building has cast iron balconies, normally used only on houses, on both its 18th Street and its Franklin Street facades. In this case, the ground floors served commerical establishments and the offices on the upper two floors were provided with balconies.
