This PWA-funded Moderne school built of a warm light-brown brick is a three-part composition with a central section taller than the wings. While its overall massing is horizontal, this is balanced by tall and rather narrow windows and particularly by the vertical glass-block windows of the stairwells. The brickwork is especially fine, laid in various courses and patterns. Above the windows on the wings, the bricks are laid vertically to give the impression of being attached columns. The interior retains much of its original finishes, including marble facings.
