St. Luke's Episcopal Church

This Gothic Revival church was erected on land donated to the congregation by the Virginia Hot Springs Company, owners of The Homestead (BA14). Cruciform in plan, the wood-shingled church has a steeply pitched gable roof with deep eaves, brick buttresses, a gabled entrance porch, and wide stained glass windows with tracery. Rose windows and plain bargeboards highlight the front and transept gables, and a square tower with louvered pointed-arched openings and crenellation rises at the rear of the building. The interior has a hammer-beam roof, dark-stained woodwork, and a pointed arch separating the single nave from the apse.
