The house at Green Valley Farm is a two-story log and weatherboard structure that was built as a tavern on the Harrisonburg–Warm Springs Road. The one-room-deep building presents a long facade fronted by a late-nineteenth-century one-story porch with chamfered posts. Architectural evidence in the attic suggests that the southern section, comprising the first five bays from the left, was built first and a northern addition soon followed. Each of the four exterior doors is topped by a four-light transom. This former tavern, once a common sight along Virginia's roads, is a rare survivor in this remote area.
