Beautifully sited on one of Rivermont Avenue's generous curves, and consequently visible for several blocks in either direction, this former elementary school, faced in yellow brick with stone trim, achieves a Beaux-Arts monumentality not always associated with this building type. Strong massing, three-quarter Corinthian columns, and a multistaired approach to the (seldom-used) main entrance contribute to the effect. For a time it housed the now-closed school for the performing arts.
