Some of the finest Queen Anne and Colonial Revival houses dating from Emporia's prosperous turn-of-the-twentieth-century period line Hicksford Avenue. This bold Queen Anne house features a many-gabled roof, projecting windows, a wraparound porch, and a distinctive slate roof with metal trim manufactured by H. T. Klugel (GV10). The two-story frame house also features a pedimented portico whose paired columns match those of the porch, thereby making a bow to the renewed classicism of the early twentieth century.
