Piedmont Camp Meeting Ground began in 1910 as a tent revival at Piedmont Methodist Church. When an emerging charismatic group under the influence of the growing Pentecostal movement was asked to leave the congregation, they crossed the road and started an annual camp meeting. The first auditorium or open-sided tabernacle was supported by three pine trees. The hemlock grove on the bank of Bottom Creek is filled with a collection of tiny board-and-batten cabins, mostly built in the 1930s and 1940s, surrounding a later rustic tabernacle dating from 1939 and a concrete-block church dating from 1936.
